Dating from the period following the Widdicomb - Mueller merger, when the company worked with outside designers (such as George Nakashima), to develop modern furniture for production. Nakashima’s contributions to Widdicomb represent a distinct phase of his practice, adapting principles from his studio work to standardized models intended for broader distribution.
Walnut base with a re-upholstered seat in French mohair and leather piping. Marked “George Nakashima” signature on the underside with client’s name. It is documented in the Widdicomb manufacturer’s catalog (page 17).
