Reclining easy chair Grand Repos by Jean Prouvé. Sprung seat, leather and steel. Designed in France around 1930 and manufactured by Tecta in the 1980s. An extremely comfortable lounge chair; only 100 pieces were produced.
In 1980, this chair went into reproduction by Tecta. It is made of metal with leather seating, an armrest and a headrest. This iconic design features a unique adjustable reclining system.
The Grand Repos was first showcased during the UAM exhibition in 1930, before being used to furnish Jean Prouvé’s own house. In 1980, Jean Prouvé slightly redesigned the Grand Repos chair for the German manufacturer Tecta. After his death in 1984, his family decided to stop production.
The Tecta re-edition is therefore quite rare and sought after by design collectors. Overall in good vintage condition, with a beautiful patina.
