Pair of Pierre Jeanneret PJ-SI-29-A ‘Easy Low’ Armchairs. Also known as “Fauteuil en Teck” or model PJ010104T, Chandigarh, India, c. 1955 - 1960
Solid teak with braided cane seats and backs. The chairs have the typical compass-style double side-leg construction, with two crosspieces connecting the legs and supporting the armrests. The backrest is slanted and slightly curved, attached to the seat with two lower supports.
This pair has an open back structure, a feature associated with earlier versions of the model. The armrests show rounded ends where they meet the backrest, a detail also found on early examples.
Both chairs have original institutional markings, although the markings are no longer fully legible. The teak shows age-appropriate wear, and the cane work has been renewed following the original method.
Provenance: Chandigarh - India
Normal wear and tear due to age - very good vintage condition.
